Portrait Workshop with Sally Ryan confirmed for Friday 29th November – Sunday 1 December 2019

We are pleased to confirm that the 3 day portrait Workshop with Master tutor, Sally Ryan, Australian painter and portrait artist, will be running again this year. The workshop will run from 10- 4pm each day from Friday 29th November – Sunday 1 December.

Participants will develop a single painting of the portrait from life. Working directly onto the canvas with paint, the portrait will initially be ‘blocked in’ and then carefully modelled over an extended period. All aspects of this process will be discussed and demonstrated with individual instruction given. The focus will be modelling form, colour mixing for painting flesh and paint handling. Some experience with drawing and painting is desirable but the workshop is suitable for all levels.

Sally is a member of Portrait Artist’s Australia and teaches portraiture and figure painting at Julian Ashton Art School. Sally’s style can be described as contemporary realism.

What is included:  Tuition, model, morning and afternoon tea.  Easels are available. Please let us know if you require assistance to identify accommodation. A broad range of options are available both in town and in the surrounding countryside.

Where are we?  The d’AIRY CReATivE Atelier is located on the corner of Bentinck & Princes St BATHURST. It is a three story building that has a fascinating history. It was constructed in 1904 to serve as vegetable cooling rooms to service the Bathurst markets. Later in the 20thcentury it served as the cooling room for Dairy Farmers.  After an extended period of neglect the building is being brought back to life by an architectural firm, committed to retaining the historical features of the construction. The Atelier is located on the top floor of the building.
